Not the right tool for the job

The other morning I awoke a little more tired than usual.

I hopped out of bed and headed to the rest room, picking up a “female accoutrement” on the way.

I’m sitting on the camode, eyes closed cause the light is just too bright, and doing my morning thang.

Eventually i take inventory of what is in my hand. Feels a little weird. Hmmm…  Brain still not functioning so i don’t think too much about it.

Then it comes time to make use of the thing in my hand, I open my eyes and alas I have a q-tip in my hand not what i needed.

I was cracking up for half the morning thinking about it.

Snow in Denver!

It took the entire season, but we finally had our first blizzard!
We’ve been being teased with snow by the weather men for weeks on end, so the idea of 16-20 inches was just a farce!
We awoke for the gym this morning to just wet roads. We were like – bah – see, told ya!

Hubby headed to work as i was returning from the gym and there was still only a smidge of snow.
When I was about to head into the office I noticed the snow was starting to stick and I could barely see through the swirling mess.
I logged into my office email and indicated I would be working from home.
I was lucky to be informed that apparently the work from home policy was suddenly revoked the afternoon before. Say what?
The day before the biggest storm of the year? Sigh.
Fine.
So i bundle up – that means my snowman outfit!

Me, ready for the snow!

Me, ready for the snow!

I trudge into the office. At this point there is about 2-4 inches on the sidewalks and some are slickery from where the snow melted and froze. Sigh.

Walking into the snow!

Walking into the snow!

My bag covered in snow!
I get into the office, set up my computer, grab my coffee… as I am walking back from the kitchen I see my co-worker – “oh hey, they just closed the office”
Nothing but vulgarity then spewed from my lips!

I stayed for a couple more hours till security was having a hissy fit that we wouldn’t get home safely.
When I got home after my walk back in the snow storm I had to remove my pants along with my shoes at the door!!  Good thing we don’t have too many neighbors!
The snow is still falling and it definitely looks lovely from inside my warm house!

Wonderful Weekend

Saturday i started off at the gym – mmmm! Gotta get my sweat on!
Next hubby and I took a jaunt to BD’s for lunch. One of my most favorite places to dine! And I had 2 gift cards to use! Woohoo!
Then we wandered among the people on 16th street mall to get some AAA tour books and maps for our upcoming road trip to arizona via Monument Valley!

On our way home we stopped by the other version of our houses (the much more expensive version) to see an updated closet option. alas the person manning the model had no idea what we were talking about. We had gotten this info from the builder, but couldn’t remember all the details. I had asked him at an HOA meeting about blowing out the wall and he said they had done that over at this version.

Current closet situation: 2 small closets, “his” and “hers”.
Obviously “hers” has more stuff in it and needs more of “his” space.
Solution: blow out the wall between, have it done via out of sight to look fabulous and allow “hers” to take over most of the space!
I love it!

Dad? Do you feel a trip out west coming on???

After that stop in we attempted to use technology (IPhone maps) and find a quicker way home than the way we knew…  It eventually worked out ok, only a couple turn arounds, and some new fun routes found! Love it!

We spent the afternoon having adult beverages in the sunshine on the roof and then watched movies – Wanted and Traitor. Wanted was awesome, Traitor,  not so much.

Sunday was supposed to be a day in the mountains using our ski pass that we paid too much for and haven’t used enough…  alas we learned that it was spring break the crowds were insane and the snow was crap… So – Denver here we come!

I spent the morning going over our tour books, and using AAA.com to make my trip tik, and just pawing over my maps. I LOVE MAPS! I drive hubby crazy that i like maps so much. I always want one of our current location on the wall and he just hates it! Must be something from my dad!
NCECA Road Trip
Eventually I had all 7 days planned out. 1800 miles. 28 hours of driving. 3 national parks, at a minimum. 4 states. I am so excited!

I left it up to hubby to decide how we would spend our time sunday outside.
A bike ride was decided. Luckily i have been doing spinning at least once a week, so hopping on the old 2 wheeler didn’t kill me!
We had a great ride – about 14 miles. Not bad for us!

Sunday Bike Ride We rode down the bike path close to our house, through some parks, past Six Flags, invesco field, the aquarium and more. It’s great how many bike paths there are in denver!
I of course forgot the sun block on my arms… sigh… Very sexy tan lines to start off the summer, let me tell you!

We also stopped in at REI and spend our dividend – $7.30 burnin a hole in my pocket – and our members only 20% off coupon. Oh yeah!
i decided to get some wheel and seat locks. These nifty screws that only turn one way, so you can lock just your frame and no-one can just come grab your wheels or seat. Woohoo!

We returned home to another fabulous afternoon of adult beverages and dip on the roof. We relaxed till about 4 when we got ready for our night out to see the Mammoth play.
And it was dollar hot dog night! WOOHOO!!  (i’ll let you know now, i won’t be doing that again – my tummy boycotted it profusely!)
The game was amazing! It is now my most favorite sport! Fun to watch, exciting, they fights, and for the guys – they have hoochies for cheer leaders!

It was a really great weekend!

Date Night at the Theater

Date night!

Last night we had a night out at the theater! One of our VIP evening! As i mentioned before we are theater snobs. Having spent a number of years out in LA with shows that run in multitudes of months no days. The usual run here is 2 weeks – ugh..  Phantom is actually a long run – 4 whole weeks. Sigh.
So that means we shell out the big bucks months and months in advance to make sure we are in the front 10 rows, center stage.
It also means we get a “dinner” which is usually anh, but there is an open bar and the wine flows freely.

Last night was an outing to Phantom of the Opera!
We were row H – seats 17 and 18 – so very nice seats indeed!!

Hubby had never seen Phantom – it was one of the shows that he really wanted to see!

At dinner we were at a table where most of the people knew each other. That made it so much better. Usually we have to play nice nice and be social with all the different couples at the tables. Sometimes that can be fun, sometimes that can be completely annoying. Last night it made it a fabulous little time for hubby and I. A little quiet chat time in the middle of a very noisy room!

There were 2 engagements during dinner – very very cute.

The show was fabulous. I had last seen it back in the 90’s at the pantages with my down stairs neighbor Kay. Haven’t thought about her in some time.
But the show seemed different to me. I think that’s ok, i paid enough for get a new show!!  :)

It was a lovely evening!

Happy Green Beer Day!

Happy St Patrick’s Day!!!

I’ve got my green on, do you?

Want to see my green? My friend started a new online website called coathngr - it like twitter, but

what you’re wearing not what you’re doing!  I love it!

Yesterday I got a lovely surprise from he hubby – unexpected flowers!  Say it with me…  Awwww……  :)

Flowers from hubby!

Flowers from hubby!

It was very unexpected and put a wonderful smile on my face!

Not sure what tonight holds for celebrating the luck of the irish…

I’m not a big guiness fan. I’m also not a big fan of crowds.

Might make it tough to get giggy with the drunken peeps around town!

The wii ratted me out!

Hubby got the wii fit as a present as i may have mentioned. Well, it’s mean….
When he first got it, it weighed him and in a very lovely asian high pitched voice, told him he was “overweight” and made his cute little avitar a little fatty…
Ugh! So not motivating!

If you don’t happen to have one – the little wii board talks to you on the screen. It asks questions, gets sad when you don’t want to hear it’s tip of the day, and jumps for joy when you do things right.
The other day it asked me if i thought Hubby was leading a heathly life (one of those questions where you don’t get to answer)
Then is asks me how i think hubby looks – and gives me some choices including, the same, heavier, trimmer etc.
I choose heavier – i figure it’s me and the wii having a little girl conversation. (and he did spend time with tom – they always eat bad)
Then is tells me i should refrain from telling hubby this fact or if I do i should indicate that he appears as if he have been living life large.
I laugh out loud and tell hubby what went down.

The next time hubby is on taking his training the wii tell him it “heard a rumor that he had been living large”
Holy guacamole!!!

Good thing i came clean – there are really only 2 people in the house using this dang thing!
Little big mouth!

I’m not dead yet!!!

Sorry for the error page that has been here for the past week.

The previous host company did an upgrade and hosed my blog…  as you may have noticed.

Hubby is currently in the process of doing the database move, so i can’t do anything too fancy till that is complete.

I’ll be back on track soon!

Ladybugs!

Sunday ski time!

I had a most fabulous day sunday!!!

Hubby was away and i couldn’t find any one to go skiing with me – so I went by myself.
That was a big deal for me! I’m still paranoid from my rental car flipping episode, and i tend to fall asleep on the way home when Hubby is driving… So i figured I was in for a heck of a time!

I made great time up there and got the front spot in our favorite parking spot! Woohoo!!
I skiied for 3 hours and felt great! No need for my normal 10:00 am snack and break time!
My tummy was grumbling by the time i called it quits – due more to the lines as opposed to me being tired. Yeah me!
I stopped by Starbucks on the way home and added an extra shot.

That seemed to do the trick! I cruised down the hill and back with nary a yawn!

Phillip was very happy to have me back home!
