Steven White – Kill Me

I just finished this book. Wow! If you are going to read it, skim my next text!

I found the premise totally enthralling – it revolved around the main character having it set up so that he would be killed if something left you in a manner that was below your “limit” of being able to live a full life. For example -  if you got a brain tumor or some terrible cancer or had a brain injury, instead of being left as a vegetable, or sick every day  they would “put you out of your misery”

Such an interesting topic. So many ways to think about it.

If you had unlimited funds – would you do it?
Would you want to live in a vegetative state yourself? Would you want to see your cabailities dimish day after day with a degenerative type of disease? Would you rather “go out” in your prime.

After taking the CPR class and reading this one specific page about the fact that anything over 10 minutes and something between 4 and 10 minutes without oxygen leads to terrible results… I’m wondering if I would. What would be better? How would I prefer it? Would it be easier or harder on the ones you love? Is it selfish?

Let me know what you think!

Another new author for me! I love when I find friends that read as much as I do and like mysteries!  This good was great!  I had to find out what happened. A little gorey, but I am definintely looking forward to the next one!

More books

Read on vacation:

Nora Roberts - The Circle Trilogy

Morrigan's Cross, Dance of the Gods, Valley of Scilence

I picked this trilogy to enjoy on vacation! It was a nice read, quick and enjoyable!

I enjoyed the sci fi portions and of course the happy endings!

Read on the train

James Patterson - Jack and Jill

James Patterson - Cat and Mouse

Books from the Train

Nora Roberts - Two of A Kind

I always love Nora!  Always big strong men, always turmoil withtrue love winning out over all odds, and of course soft porn! Woohoo! The stories were interesting, with some neat twists. Just a fun read!

James Patterson - Judge and Jury

This was my first venture into the world of James Patterson. I enjoyed the way the story evolved and the first person writing in alternating chapters! As first I wasn’t sure I would make it through the story, but as it went on I just had to see how it would end. Of course there was some fanciful parts in the end, but if you have ever watched a james bond movie you can just let it slide!

James Patterson - Honeymoon

This one was definitely a page turner!  Yeah she was bad news, but not how bad!  Great ending, great story, great read!

I read a couple others, but i don't have them in front of me right now! My bookshelves will be cleared in no time!  Anyone else have other suggestions?

More Books

I just finished the following books:

Jodi Picoult - The Tenth Circle - A Novel

I really enjoyed this book! The topic is a little uncomfortable for some - rape - but the way the story is written and how the book ends is wonderful! I couldn't put it down! Definitely a great writter and someone to keep an eye on! (in my book)

Mark Haddon - The Curious Incident of the dog in the night-time

I could not wait to finish this book. It was awful. It was "written" by a boy with some sort of autistic disease. The story is interesting but making your way through the book was too painful and not something i would recomend to anyone.

Orhan Pamuk - Snow

Final decision on this book  - Bleck!

Unfortunately this book just never ever gets better. I kept hoping for something more interesting to happen and it never did, and then it just ended...  Sigh. Don't waste your time!

Blinded By Stephen White

Just finished this book for book club!

I really enjoyed it! I liked the character build up, the story line had a nice twist that I personally didn't see coming.

I will definintely keep his books on my to read list!

New Crab Recipe and Books

Sunday night I cooked up something new for hubby

Deviled Crab Boules

He really liked them..  I'm pretty sure I could live my whole life without having them again. But if you give it a try, pick a different wine - we went with what was in the house - Dry Reisling...  Made it a little too sweet.  Try a pinot or a chardonay.

As you know, I joined a book club a few months back. This has given me exposure to a bunch of books I would never have read. Some I wish I hadn't, some I really enjoyed!

Wanted to share my thoughts on some that I have Finished:

Flag of Our Fathers - James Bradley and Ron Powers - I loved this book! I need to get it to my dad so he can read it! I think he'll like it alot. I enjoyed the story! it brough some interesting thoughts to me on how we view war now a days. Back then they could loose thousands of prescious young men in a couple hours and a couple days later it might make the news paper, today we lose 1 man and everyone knows about it instantly...  Something to ponder.

The Tender Bar - J.R. Moehringer - This was an interesting book Being from the east coast I was intriqued to see my peeps. I laughed at stuff that was typical but other people in my book club found strange!  We are a little different over on the right coast! It's a good read!

The Painted Drum - Louise Erdrich - I just finished this one for book club last night! I really enjoyed it! It enthralled me, it kept my interest, it left me wanting more. Some of the story line got confusing, and other in the club agreed.

The Big Over Easy - Jasper Fforde - I did not renjoy this book. I laughed at the quips and double entendras surrounding the nursery rhyme stories. I don't enjoy stories where the protagonist gets picked on too much. And this guy was the low man, the one everyone picked on..  Happy ending over all, but ...  I did not enjoy it.

A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian - Marina Lewycka - I really didn't like this book. The intermitent history of the tractor was super duper boring. I really didn't like one of the characters, felt bad for the dad, and felt pity for the daughter...  Left me wanting more of the history of the family instead of the Tractors.

In the middle of:

Snow - Orhan Pamuk - slow going. I picked it because a woman in the book club that I normally agree with really like it. I'll finish it, but I had to read the Painted Drum for last night, so it had to wait...  I'll make a final decision when  I am done!

About to Start:

Sky Burial - Xinran Xue

Black Rose

Black Rose - Nora Roberts

Second in the garden series. Loved the seond book, second of the 3 women finds love, which leads you to have to read the third where she will also find love and the triangle will be complete. Still the unknown and walking ghosts. Gratuitous love scenes etc. I loved it! Can't wait for the last one!
