LB Studio - Version 3

Lazy Bear Pottery Studio Version 3 is well underway! It is definitely smaller! Or maybe i should call it cozy!

I mentioned new shelving etc from our fun over the weekend!

I can almost see my pottery wheel now!

This long weekend will see some definite organization! An old computer and monitor we came across during the office clean up will find a new home! My main offenders to keeping me from becoming fully organized is my stock! I need to find a place to store my pottery! Or perhaps sell it – novel idea!  J

So if anyone wants to help me out! Check out etsy.com or lazybearpottery.com and buy some!

Maybe next year I’ll join the family for the strawberryfestival and sell it there!

And if you remember Uncle Frank....  Our Body!

Here is his new home!

Weekend of chores and fun!

Weekend of chores and fun!

Saturday it was a bit cooler in Denver! 70’s! So I got a bug up my butt to clean, clean clean! And besides that it appears our maids are now MIA – I’m claiming deported, hubby doesn’t agree!

We also went FreeCycle and Craig’s List happy! Clearing out some stuff!

The whole first floor is mostly de-cluttered! We ordered smaller dog beds so we can reclaim some of our precious and gorgeous floor space! The upstairs office closet has been re-organized and most things are once again accessible! Hubby keeps claiming we need a storage unit – I claim we need to give up some stuff!

Saturday night we did a quick sweep of the country side to do our errands! Costco for soda and cascade (I tried the Melaluca stuff – no way, no how, it doesn’t’ even come close to my cascade – so much for being green there!), Home Depot for Lag Bolts for my/our new shelves in the garage and for some string and eyehooks to get the xmas tree to hang from the roof, and finally Target for groceries – and much to my dismay they were not accepting their own coupons due to counterfeiting that day – Grrrrrrr! So I made the poor little cashier take back a whole bunch of stuff that I only got cause of the dang coupons!

After our shopping adventures we watched Cloverfield. I got nauseous! I warn anyone that can’t do the motion rides to drug up prior to watching this film! I made it thru about 5 minutes and then listened to rest! Thank goodness I can see the TV while cooking! Whenever the camera would even out for a smidge I’d catch some scenes, or hubby would rewind once in a while and show me something interesting!

Sunday we awoke and did a mini hike! It was supposed to be a 1.1 hike to the top of an 8500 foot mountain. The book was wrong, it was more like a .8 mile hike…  Barely got our heart rates up! Sigh! But it was really pretty and I might recommend it for a sunset hike!

We got home in time for a late breakfast and then off to the garage to hang shelves and the Christmas tree! We, well probably me measured wrong so we had to go pillage a 2X4 from the trash out front left over from the construction of our fine homes! Basically a 4 foot shelf that hangs on brackets is really a 4 foot 1 inch long shelf! Our wall section was exactly 4 foot. Sigh!

We also got he Christmas tree strung up from the roof on eye hooks! Kinda ghetto looking, but out of the way! I tried to take pictures, but the camera battery died and I can’t find the other one I had on the hike with me…

Full weekend!

On the roof

Left on the roof!

Last week one of the local radio stations talked about leaving things on the roofs of cars.

One time I left my gym bag on the roof of my mama-mobile (Chrysler mini wagon with real wood vinyl siding). I drove out of my apartment complex. I lived on a divided highway so I had to head away from where I was going, u-turn and go back.

As I was gaining speed I heard it. That sound. The thump. And the realization of what had occurred. Since it was a divided highway, there was no easy return to the scene of the crime. The bag contained my favorite yellow walkman, and some great workout clothes. When I finally circled around the bag was gone. Not squished, nothing splintered all around the ground. So where did it go?  It was the day before my birthday. Sigh.

That night I got a good friend to come over and we made signs asking for the finder of my bag to please call so I could get it back. And lucky me! They did call and I did get my bag back with all my lovelies tucked inside!

I was very lucky!

Night out and generalities

Bubbah Terrance is doing a smidge better today. We have figured out how to keep him doped up on pain pills so that he can traverse the stairs. He’s not crying when he sits, nor when he gets up. That’s definitely a good thing!

Bubbah Phillip is sick and tired of all the attention being bathed upon his evil brother! He just looks at us like, hey, I’m good child, pay attention to me, praise me!!!

I just remind him that his brothers days are currently numbered and that soon he just might be an only child!

Last night I went to a showing of Sex and the City! It was great! Loved the plot line, and seeing the gals together again! The nudity was a little disturbing since it was 3 stories tall – or felt like it was anyway! I know, I know, I’m weird! But I loved it! Loved the ending!! Loved it all! I laughed I cried, it was better than cats!

The only bummer to the evening, was that 1.5 hours into the movie the fire alarm went off.

Yes,the flashing lights started going, the projector stopped, the lights came on…What? I don’t smell anything, can’t we just see how it ends? I was concerned that if we came back for another showing I’d have to sit thru the first ½ again.Ugh!! But as luck would have it, it turned out to be a false alarm, so they letus back in and gave us a free ticket to another movie! Woohoo - I think it might be the "He's Just Not That Into You" one coming out in the  fall! It'll be another chick flick night!

Prior to the movie my friend L and I at ar Marlow’s. It’s a good old boy place, but dang is the happy hour affordable!! 12 oz draft beersfor $2! Sweet!

L and I split our entrée and got an appetizer – The halibut with lobster mashed potatoes and spinach and artichoke dip!  Lovely meal! A little noisey, but we had a nice time!

The waitress was pretty attentive, but the bar tender was overwhelmed!

Japanese Crack

So I think I had the quickest bout of mono or the Japanese really know how to make tea!

Thursday was just like the rest of the week, tired, node the size of Montana, tuckered by lunch time! I decided after lunch to try some of the tea that hubby brought back from from me. I used my “Giant” mug – which is basically 2  mugs, and then I re-steeped the same bag again later in the afternoon.

Around 6, after dinner, I had a burst of energy and decided hubby and I should take a walk to get ice cream! Well I did get a bit tuckered and we diverted for gelato that was a number of blocks closer! I got dulce de leche chip! MMMMM! Then I had hubby head down the block a smidge to check out this pizza place that has been under construction for a couple months. Every time I pass it on the way to work I would look in. So hubby and I were checking it out and Marco – the owner his-self- opened the door and said come on in! Well, we aren’t one to say no, so we did! I looked great inside! All the booths were setup, the wall decorations, etc! He brought us into the kitchen and showed us the cool new ovens – one coal, one wood! Neato keeno! They open Wednesday and we’ll be there!

After we left there, we hung out and watched tv for a bit. I wasn’t tired. Hubby went to bed, I tried…  I was up until midnight! Ugh! Figured it was caffeine in the tea (I’ve been cutting out most caffeine in my day- only my coffee or latte in the morning). Figured I’d sleep till 7ish – my norm, this week of being ill…

Nope- 6am! Bright eyed and bushy tailed I popped out of bed, started the laundry, did some work, went and got some new (craig’s list) cabinets for the garage, walked to lunch with hubby, walked to work from there…   Still not tired…  Did happy hour – just 1 margarita from the Rio- and back to water, but still was up till 11pm or so!

So my theory is that the tea is actually Japanese Crack!  :)

Funny!

If you get mono from your hubby and you both have it at the same time, is it Duo then?  ;-)

-- comment from boss man when i said i was working from home cause hubby gave me mono!

Maybe sharing everything isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

Maybe sharing everything isn’t all it’s cracked up to be!

I awoke Tuesday morning with a sore throat. Dang. Sucks to be me! I took me some Airborne hoping it was just flight ickies!

I headed down to the new office location. The new location which now requires me to drive. And spend a ton of money on gas and time in my vehicle.

But I digress – After I got work I started to get tired. Pooped tired.

So I headed home to enjoy my lovely bed!

I did some research and there is a teeny tiny percentage that a person that has had mono can have it again… Grrr…  I’ve apparently got mono again. Damn husband! Keep that sharing crap to yourself I say!

So I’ve been napping and working, napping and working…  Hoping to get some exercise some day soon, but not sure how long I’ll be pooped and sleeping my days away!

I’ve got all achies, my neck is hurting, my fever is slightand comes and goes and dang it if I just want to not be ill! My right node is not as big as hubbies was, but it sure does feel big, and it almost has closed my throat on the right side!

Wedding in the woods! - The wedding!

The wedding was a success! Laura and Mike are now married!

We are hiked out to the perfect cliff with the perfect yellow flowers!

Mom and Auntie picked the wild flowers to be Laura’s bouquet!

The minister was great! He had a really great ceremony with some very touching words!

Laura wrote her vows on the way there in the car, Michael winged it! It was really cute!

The parent’s were thrilled! The bride and groom were thrilled! Kisses and presentations were done! Pictures were taken!

We all returned to the lodge where champagne flowed! People were silly! We did a slide show of everyone’s photos! As Lauara said – who wants to see what we just did 5 minutes ago?

It was a wonderful group of people that they gathered to help them share in their day!

Friends from all parts of their lives!

Everyone had a good amount of libations! Hopefully hubby will be able to hike today!

P.S.  - The "something blue"  ended up being a pencil top eraser with a little note hubby and i tucked in there and  with a blue sewing thread pushed thru so that  she could tie it  wherever! She chose her undies! She showed off the something blue! Being as far from civilization i think we did good on our task!

And the shoes worked great! Hubby liked the outfit better with the sneakers than the heels!

Wedding in the woods! - We arrived

We are currently in Big Sur getting ready for the wedding in the woods. Ok, well not currently, hubby is still sleeping and I’m blogging!

We arrived into San Jose yesterday morning, grabbed our starbucks, cause DIA – Denver International Airport - doesn’t have but 1 and it’s at the far end of a terminal I never fly from! What is that silliness anyway!

Should be at least 2 per terminal, per wing! I digress – so we grabbed our caffeinated beverages and head to the bus to Hertz… Alas there is a very small sign that says no food or beverage on the bus? WHAT? I just paid a good chunk of my arm for this coffee and you want me to either chug it or toss is? Hell NO!!! But lucky for me, I was thinking…  I had an empty water bottle in my backpack! Yeah me! So I transferred my piping hot, tasty caffeinated beverage into my sealed container and tossed it into my bag! HAH! Now I understand keeping things clean, but please, no other city does this and for god’s sake put a sign somewhere closer, or alert people when they book a rental car? Hun? Is that so hard?

We hop onto 101 south and jump off at Monterey for some lunch and sight seeing.Hubby has never been to this portion of CA. We ate at Fish Hopper -  The calamari was amazing! I had an opened face crab cake on portabello mushroom with a greenbean salad. Very very tasty! Hubby went with the fish and chips and liked thoseas well! The manager was amazing, the seater was annoying since she heard us ask the manager for a seat by the window but put us in a booth. It turned out the view was still good, but still. And the server was not so good. Ourappetizer came out after our meals, and the extra tarter sauce…  nope. The manager brought out our calamari and said  - shouldn’t this come before our meals and we laughed and said ah well, we’ll do it in reverse. She appreciated our attitude! It was definitely spendy – so it’ll be frank and beans for the rest of the trip  ;)

We did a little shopping, looked at the ocean, checked out the Aquarium…  I don’t really like aquariums, but hubby does, so I figured, why not… Well the prices have gone up since the last time I was there and thought they were too high! $25 a person!! WOAH!! Do you get a private session with a sea lion?

So we meandered a bit more and then headed south to catch up with the bride!

We arrived at our “cabin” and were amused! I can hear the traffic on Hway 1 from my perch in my cabin, typing away on my free wifi! Definitely a cute place, but nothing spectacular! Compared to the prices at the “Lodge” that the family stayed at, I’m ok with our $100 cabin in the woods!

Next was a hike to see the possible wedding locals! They decided against in the woods cause there are too many people and it requires a permit! So we’ll be near some great cliffs and yellow flowers (the brides favorite). Should be a great time!

“Rehearsal” dinner was the Rocky Point Restaurant.

I’ve seen this place multiple times when driving thru Big Sur on my way to San Fran and Napa, so I was excited to finally get to try it! The calamari here was also amazing! Not rings but thin strips! The garlic cheesy bread – also amazing. And that is where the fun part of the food stopped! I got seafood fettuccini with pesto sauce. Well the pesto sauce was green. Not much garlic or pine nuts to be found. And the shrimp was cold… Yes, that was creepy. And the rest of the fish in the dish was anh…  But the calamari strips were good! I doused it in parmesan cheese but that didn’t help either… Hubby went with the fried prawns and said that was pretty good – but how can you go wrong with fried, eh?

Bride and Groom are hanging at the camp site by the river with their friends that are also camping. It was just too traumatic to try and get our camping gear here, so we went for the cabin in the woods. It should be a really fun day! Most people are switching their outfits to jeans, but I didn’t think of bringing alternate outfits, so I’ll be in my dress, wish me luck on avoiding the poison oak that is all along the path!  ;)

My other job, which the Aunt of the bride assigned me, was to find the bride “something blue”. (my own fault i asked if she had her something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue) Ugh! We are in the middle of nowhere…  Any stores are a multitude of miles away. I know the bride would appreciate a small blue piece of paper with a smiley on it, but not so sure the family will think it’s as cute as I do…  We’ll see what we can find at breakfast at the gift shop!

Wedding today, hiking and sight seeing tomorrow!

Wedding in the woods!

Wedding in the woods!

My friend laura (she's the one that created the "Cheese" that hangs in my house) is getting married up in Big Sur this coming weekend.

Great excuse for a new dress!  I chose this one:

The fun part is it is a teeny tiny gathering. And it’s inthe woods…  So now I needed the perfectshoes for the dress.

Hmmm…  So nothing with a heel,

something that didn’t let dirt get on my feet,

something was that super cute!

Something that can be "hiked" in

I ended up with these little numbers!

All it all it should be a really great weekend! We got our tickets via frequent flier miles, so we arrive Friday and home Monday. So we have a little extra time to find some hiking trails and enjoy the scenery!

I got us a cute cabin in the woods – with wifi! So it should be a really great time!

But I had to show off the dress and the shoes!

The cat is away and all hell breaks loose!

The cat is away and all hell breaks loose!

Friday morning the groomer came for the bubbahs. It was going to be Terrance’s first time with the new groomer. She’s a really kick-butt gal. I love her. As Phillip was getting his bath and blow drying is began to whine, his normal "oh whoa is me" whine! Which set off his brother… Uh oh, this could go really badly. We did manage to get him in the van after Phillip was done, and with the muzzle he didn’t go after the groomer!

Friday night J and I went to see Alonzo Bodden. The show was great! The new Improv is really cool! It is all table seating which is really nice, compared to Comedy Works which is really smooshed ranks.  I love both places, but it is really nice to have room to move!

On the way out of the club I had a little drama with the possibility of having lost my keys! I made J turn around and go back to where we had dinner and then I made the bouncer look around and then I made the group of people currently sitting where we had sat move all around, and then I went back to thecar… and the keys were in my purse the entire time! Arg!

Saturday I awoke – early – sigh…  I head to the rest room and the light isn’tworking. I’m thinking great…  I’m noteven sure I know where the light bulbs are at this point or the thingy to putit in the ceiling…  Then I headed to theoffice to see if my Craig’s list emails had been returned and noticed that my monitor wouldn’t turn on… (I had turned it off the night before attempting tomake that go green thing work) I figured maybe I blew something turning it on…  Then I looked around and the whole office was out… Grrrr…

Damn husband out of town!

So I headed down to the garage (2 flights) to flip thebreakers…

I open the door to the garageand whala- darkness!

Grrrr…  Back up (2flights) to get a flashlight. And then back down (2 flights) to flip the breakers.

I open the fuse box and whala – no fuses are blown… Say what? Grrrr….  Stupid husband out of town when something completely random happens! So I give a call to second line – good old dad! Pop suggest it is due to all the big tornados we have swirling around out here.

Everything righted itself eventually! I popped the garage door to get the car out to go to the gym and the grocery store. By the time I finished all that fun the power had fully returned. Woohoo! I checked in with my neighbors on my way back and they said they had the same thing and that it was back by 8:30 am ish. Whew! Not sure I really knew what to do if it hadn't come back on - especially on a long weekend!

From there on I rocked the errand train! I dropped off a package to get mailed, took the sewing machine to the fix it store, money from the bank for my Craig’s list item, good will for charity drop off, massage, Craig’s list item pickup, and back home, all in 3 hours! Woohoo!

But it figured it was just typical that crazy stuff would happen when hubby was out of town! Guess we better hide a couple keys around Denver, and keep the flashlights filled with fresh batteries!
